Aleh Katan Sheli - Avraham Fried

Ani hu etz me'od zaken usva yamim

  1. Rough translation:

I am a tree, old in age, fulfilled in years
I have withstood strong winds, and thunder storms
You are a small, unstable leaf
    Self-confident, know it all
Take with you, my life’s challenges
Don’t disregard them, maybe this all I have
There are beautiful days, everything is blooming
And there are difficult times, everything slipping away

    Chorus:
    Hold strong my little leaf
It is not always clear outside
Gale winds and tempest storms happen
Remember and be strengthened I am with you
    Hold strong my little leaf.

And not always is everything alright, everything understood
Life is a test not just a life lesson
Now my little leaf, all is calm
Although from afar a cloud may reach
    Take with you, my blessings
Always remember, the glass is half full
And when the sun goes down over the ocean
Don’t worry, tomorrow it will shine once again
    Hold on my little leaf..

  4. I took the liberty of smoothing out the rough edges of BugsBenny36's rough translation of this beautiful poem as sung so beautifully by Avrohom Fried.

I am an age-old tree, fulfilled in years,
I have withstood strong winds, and thunder storms
You are a small, fragile leaf --
    A self-confident know-it-all
Take with you my life experiences --
Don’t disregard them, these may be all I have to offer --
There are beautiful days, with everything blooming
And there will be difficult times, with everything dooming

    Chorus:
Hold strong, little leaf of mine,
It is not always clear outside,
Gale winds and tempest storms happen.
Remember and be strong, I am with you.
    Hold strong my little leaf.

Everything is not always the way it should be, everything clear and understood.
Life is not am exercise in school, life must include honorable choices.
At this time, little leaf, everything is calm.
Though from afar a dark cloud may arrive.
    Take with you, my blessings.
Always remember, the glass is half full.
And when the sun goes down over the sea,
Worry not, tomorrow it will shine brightly once again.
Hold on my little leaf. . .

  8. My grandson was born just over a week ago.
I held him and soothed him, but I didn't have a lullaby to sing to him.
I heard this song on a CD of Israeli songs.
    This will be his lullaby.

    Thank you.

  12. According to Google Translate off of Bugs Bunny Hebrew posting

I am a very old and broke tree for days.
    I've seen ghosts and thunder
    You're a moving little leaf.
    Confident everything.
Take the path of my experience.
    Maybe it's all I've got.
    # ' cause there are beautiful days it's all blooming
And there's hard times, everything's getting away

Hold on tight, my little leaf.
' Cause it's not always out bright
In the spirit of an assault and a cold storm
Remember and you'il be stronger with me
Hold on tight, my little leaf.

    Everything is understandable.
Life is not an account rate is also a test
Now a small leaf is calm.
But from afar maybe a cloud is coming
    Take my blessing with you.
    Remember always.
And when the sun to the sea sets
Don't worry tomorrow, she's shining again.
